Drake Takes Run Jake Run the Distance
Jockey Sheree Drake travelled 630km as part of her Saturday riding schedule before hopping aboard Run Jake Run ($4.20) to take him to a photo finish victory at Clifford Park later that day.
Drake spent eight hours darting between Toowoomba, Ballina and Beaudesert early in the day before riding the five-year-old gelding in the Hume Doors & Timber Class 3 Handicap 1625m for Beaudesert owner and trainer Greg Cornish.
“She left for Ballina at 6am this morning where she had a first and a second, then went to Beaudsert to get a third and came back to Toowoomba to win. I think she was hoping to get three wins but she’s done an outstanding job,” Cornish said.

Run Jake Run and Tracey Wolfgram-trained Medieval Myth ($4.40) battled it out down the straight and finished within a nostril of each other, which left many in doubt.
“I was up at the trainers bar and I thought we were beat,” Cornish said.
The other half of the owner partnership, Terry Jacobson, disagreed.
“I was standing on the steps in front and I thought we had it,” he said.
The judge deliberated for an extended period before alleviating the 1100-strong crowd’s anxiety by awarding a nose win to Run Jake Run.
Race favourite and Tony Gollan-trained Knute ($1.80 fav) showed a lack of speed heading down the straight but held on to clinch third.
Cornish said his horse had not scored a win since August when he covered 1600m at the Sunshine Coast, and now that he has been awarded a win at Toowoomba, he will line up another 1600m race there in two weeks.
